“Cuerno Largo”

18”H x 20”W x 13.5”D

Bronze, Ed. 25 (Sold Out)

The independent attitude, natural elegance and underlying pride of the longhorn breed can be seen in the expression and gesture of this stout steer as he struts his stuff. For over 200 years longhorns roamed the West without interference from man, making their way and adapting to the harsh country. They evolved into what they are today, a beautiful, tough and intriguing breed. They become part of our western heritage as they carried the dreams of western expansion into a new century. This magnificent and tenacious breed has become a living symbol of the western frontier and Old West.

While sculpting this piece Greg moved one of his longhorns into the small round pen/corral outside his studio window. Two yearling colts were already corralled and weren't too sure of their new pen mate. The first two days that longhorn ran those two babies off the feed, but by day three the two youngsters had had enough. Those two colts put that longhorn into an ornery bothered trot - perfect position and movement for the "Cuerno Largo" steer.
