American Icon
beautifully portrays the strength and pride of the American West.
The buffalo head wall hanging is the fourth piece in Greg's hat rack
series.
So the story goes... Charlie would
leave for the saloons every afternoon. Nancy would hold up two
fingers, reminding him to have only two drinks. Charlie would
return home in the early evening and hold up a finger for each drink
he'd had: two or three or five. We give you Charlie, a larger than
life character, a cowboy artist and an endearing soul who created
the legacy of great Western art, and Nancy the woman who loved him.
This is a piece with a purpose.
It was sculpted in the spirit of giving . . . to give back to those
who sacrifice their lives to protect our freedoms. We must
honor them and thank them.
This horse head hat rack is
the third piece in Greg's hat rack series. It has a few new
features to accommodate a larger brim. What a great place to
hang your hat!
In California, Walkara was known as a great
horse thief, primarily due to an 1840 campaign through the
Cajon Pass into Southern California which resulted in the
capture of a large number of horses mainly from the Spaniards, with
estimates ranging from several hundred to 6,000 horses. Horsethief
Canyon and Little Horsethief Canyon in the Cajon Pass are named for
his thieving exploits.
I have my own brand that I
hope to see running on my daughter's stock someday (now on my son's
as well.) I believe a stockman's brand has that kind of
future...
This pieces depicts the strength
and beauty of young women of the West. It romantically
captures the empowerment of women in the American West and the
historical significance of the modern cowgirl.
Not many speak to us as Charlie
Russell has through the art he brought to life. His contribution to
West we hold dear, past and future, can hardly be measured. As a
tribute to the treasure he was and the treasures he preserved, this piece has been created.
Just as Charlie was a true one of a kind so this piece will be.

No matter the subject it is my
belief that form is the most important thing about a sculpture. "Tryin'
to Collect a Buck" is no exception. It is a powerful thing
when form and subject are both meaningful.
A sculptural rendition of our
forefather in Western Art: Charlie Russell, who laid the
groundwork for what I do today. One has to ponder what it must
have been like to see the world changing before your eyes while
trying to "get it all down before it's gone".
The Pitchfork has a good reputation
for great horses. The hours the cowboys put on them are
invaluable. They deal with the colts in cowboy fashion -
nothings a big deal; it's all just part of it.
When dealing with beasts of burden,
there is no changing their minds for any length of time. It's
not just the bulls that mark a certain path and grow into their name
and nature, but also the men that work them. Both can be
described as surly at times and most definitely set in their ways.
A cowman might as well sign his
brand as his name, and they do when they burn it on their stock. It
is their legal mark of identification and ownership. The pride in a brand runs through generations and becomes the
trademark of
the family.
"Easy Does It" tells the personal tale of Greg and his very fresh four year old gelding, Easy, last Spring. Easy was coming off a long winter and not feeling up to helping with the work Greg had lined up. . .
Cuttin' calves off mammas or sortin'
the herd has long been part of working cattle. Today the
popular sport of cutting has refined this part of ranch work down to
a fine science with artistry of movement and cow sense.
"A Little Time Off" was
inspired by Greg's love of good horses. He admires the great
equine athletes that are bred today. This piece features five
athletes enjoying some down time in the pasture. Greg captures
the personality and individuality of each horse. . .

When cattle ship in from the warmer
weather of Mexico and Texas to the much cooler early summer weather
on the cattle permits in the Colorado Rockies, they often fall sick
and require a little tending to. . .
This relief mirror frame is very
powerful. It is incredibly moving - a symphony of design, shape
and movement. The horses seem to charge out of heaven with wild
urgency, while the sides bring a soft fluidity and the bottom calm
order.
Every cowboy searches the horizon,
looking for livestock, trying to decipher who the figures are that
are riding his way, or just looking out over his spread wondering
what is yet to come.
A sweet little nude with very soft
lines and delicate features. Her mood is relaxed and reflective.
With pen in hand, she reviews figures and ponders the bottom line.
From the early beginnings of the breed,
Longhorns made their mark on theWest, they adapted and evolved to
eventually foster life in a new frontier as pioneers in a hard,
wild land...
Only a bronc peeler knows the ecstasy
of fannin' a rank one. Both bronc and rider boast attitudes of individualism
and a hard-nosed sense of freedom...

There was a time in the old West,
a veritable "Age of Renegades", when men faced 'Indian arrows or
Mexican lead' on a daily basis. Six guns were the new invention....
Longhorns have long been the front
pasture cattle of many a proud rancher. Many feel there's nothing
more beautiful than to look out over a herd on longhorns...
In 1790 the Creek and Choctaw tribes
used a game of Lacrosse to settle a dispute over the rights to a
beaver pond. The pictorial depiction of that historic game featured
here gives testimony to the passion and aggressiveness with which
the game was played...
For the Lakota the flute was only
for one kind of music; love music. It was for playing courting songs.
You see, Indians are shy by nature and the flutes did all the talking.
They wooed the young maidens with powerful medicine...
The independent attitude, natural
elegance and underlying pride of the longhorn breed can be seen
in the expression and gesture of this stout steer as he struts his
stuff...
The classic event of Rodeo - saddle
bronc riding - is one buckin’ business! Over the years Stock
contractors have bred and raised bucking horses to develop the best
buckers possible...
