With beautiful design and artful lines Greg captures the
familiarity and comfort a bronc rider has with his rig. Any seasoned bronc rider knows the
feel of his bronc saddle. As Greg describes, "You melt into the
saddle, you sit into it instead of on top of it, it's as comfortable as
grandpa's lazy boy."
Just like a captain knows his ship from bow to stern a
bronc rider knows his saddle. He thinks about his binds more than
any other piece of equipment. The front binds provide the break
over point for the stirrup when making the back stroke, and help with
the snap back to the front. The quarter binds are the fine
adjustment to the stirrup length. If they are too short you'll pop
out of the saddle, if they are too long you'll chase the end of your
stirrup and your ride will be sloppy.
While Greg was still riding broncs he spent of his down
time in his saddle, watching TV, reading, it didn't matter. His
wife couldn't keep it out of the house. In fact, it always was
given a prominent position. Hours were spent checking binds, going
over it top to bottom, front to back, all the while itching for the next
ride.
"Ship Without A Sea" gives you a glimpse behind the
chutes and into the mind of a bronc rider as he gets ready with his rig
to ride that next unpredictable horse.
